Twelfth Night Review

Last week my class and a few other classes went to go see the play, "Twelfth Night" by William Shakespeare.  This is one of the first William Shakespeare plays I have ever watched.  Before watching the performance I did not know much about the plot besides reading the study guide.  I thought it was hard to understand what was happening at times but at the end it all came together and made sense.  I thought it was a good production by all the actors.  After watching the performance I realized that there were some themes like, happiness, love, romance.  This was seen as a very romantic sort of play.  It seemed that multiple characters were in love with each other. The love brought out many of the characters souls and ending up breaking some hearts in the end.
The story had lots of characters but to start off we have the two twin siblings, Viola and Sebastian.  This started off with a crash of a ship that killed many of the passengers but they happened to survive the hurtful crash.  The Captain also known as, Antonio also survived and wanted to make Viola look as a boy.  Viola meets Orsino and falls in love with him.  This performance made some similarities just like Romeo and Juliet I thought.  Orsino unfortunately sees Viola as a boy and is not in love with her.  Viola and Sebastian think they will never see each other ever again.  This was a very sad point in the performance.  There was a theme of giving up because they thought they would never see each other again.  Thankfully in the end they both find each other with the families they were with.  They knew they found each other because they look identical.
I thought the details throughout the production was amazing.  I have never seen a play so technological with the cool front screen in the beginning with the cool sounds of the microphone.  The way it all came together impressed me.  I thought the stage was well with the impressive dancing by the characters.  I could tell that the actors put a lot of time and work into this production not only learning the difficult dancing moves but also memorizing the lines.  I thought the characters did a good job showing the "Sticking to character."  They all seemed very happy and into the performance.
My favorite character in the performance was either Sir Andrew Aguecheek or Feste.  They were both very talented and played there character perfectly.  They were both funny, happy, and played character.  The way Feste sung was very talented through the microphone.  I was not expecting it at first but then was very impressed.  Sir Andrew Aguecheek made the performance funny by doing little details that made the audience laugh.  The way he danced was hysterical and talked to other characters.
All in all, I have seen dozens of plays but "Twelfth Night" was very good and different.  I thought the little details and especially the actors made this play ten times better.  The characters always kept you awake laughing and smiling.  The little details and the projections had made the performance very good.  I enjoyed "Twelfth Night" by William Shakespeare and hopefully I will be able to see many more of his productions in the future.
