Blog Post- Jacob Lebowitz

For this post we were assigned to give a story like performance of the love story, Romeo and Juliet.  In my group it was me, Yun, Aaron, Cassidy, and David.  I played the Narrator and the Gamer.  Yun played Paris.  Aaron played the brave Romeo, Cassidy played Juliet, and David played the Friar. This was Aaron's idea to create a video game based on the play, Romeo and Juliet.  This is the scene when both Romeo and Juliet take their lives during the same time.  As the person who played the gamer I'll tell you what the story was like.  In the beginning the gamer was playing a game called "Romeo and Juliet" and was looking for a can of pop.  He found a can of pop but unfortunately there was nothing in the can.  The gamer walks out the door to go grab another coke and suddenly leaves the game running on the counter.  The game continues and inside the game there is Romeo, Juliet, Friar, and Paris.  Romeo drinks the poison from the friar f...

Caucasian Chalk Circle

The Caucasian Chalk Circle Review On Thursday, me and my friends went to go see the wonder play,  The Caucasian Chalk Circle presented by students from my school.  This play was directed by a German modernist named Brian Brecht.   This play was written before the 1950's.  The main point of this play is about a peasant women who finds a baby and takes care of the baby.  Unfortunately, the previous owner of the baby was very wealthy.  She took very little care of her baby. The prologue explained ,most of the story.  There was basically two stories that combined together to make the Caucasian Chalk Circle.  The people that wanted to grow crops ended up growing the crops in the land.  The play is basically when World War ll is happening. This means that the play was created near the 1950's.  Grusha's Lord ended up having a baby named Micheal.  To bad the Governor had died so his Wife Natella ended up taking off and leaving.  N...

Blog #8

In class today we have all presented our ideas on our modernized versions of Romeo and Juliet.  This proposal was about a regular part in the play just modernized into todays world.  We all then voted on the person who had the best modernized version.  I really felt that Grace and Aaron's version stood out the best out of everyone elses, especially mine.  Anyways I was then put into Aaron's play because we each split 4 amd for between Aaron p's and Graces.  Aarons idea is connected with the West Side.   I feel I shall be Paris because he is not that important and two he is very wealthy and everyone thinks he is the best out of everyone even Romeo.  My character Paris is feeling very sad and emotional.  As being Paris I shall show happiness at first with the weding with Julet.  Once I realized that Juliet had killed herself I was very upset and that my future wife had not gotten to our wedding.  This scene is bery important to my characte...

Proposal For Adaptation Project

Part: - Act 5 Scene 3; When Romeo and Juliet both die together Characters (2-5): - Romeo - Juliet - Paris (Not so much Paris) - Lord Capulet - Lady Capulet Instead of 2 families it will be two big cities that are right next to each other This will be set on a rainy day because it is very sad/ loving In the morning they are found in the white church with the bells ringing. After they both Romeo and Juliet die the rain clears out and the Sun reappears bright Costumes: - White clothing representing love and innocence Where: - Act 5 Scene 3 will be located in the church where they both die To me I felt Act 5 Scene 3 meant the most to me.  This scene really showed the true colors and love not only Romeo had for Juliet but also the love Juliet had for Romeo.  Some people believe that "Love at first sight is real" and is a feeling when you look into each others eyes and feel that connection with them.  This feeling is almost like you know them but you hav...

Bad Lurhmann's Blog Post

Jacob Lebowitz Baz Lurhmann Director Choices The movie version of the famous play Romeo and Juliet was directed by Baz Luhrmann.  I found this movie version very interesting and entertaining.  As a class we have watched this movie for about two and a half weeks.  Both the movie and play that we read are very similar in story telling but had some differences.  I liked how Baz Lurhmann switched up some parts that I found somewhat interesting.  For example, in the movie version, Baz did not include Romeo carrying Paris inside as for the play Romeo did carry Paris into the Church.  This movie version really helped not only me but anyone watching it cause it was put into modern day life.  This made the understanding of the play much easier to see what was actually happening instead of not knowing what was going on.  Baz still kept the tricky William Shakespeare language in the movie.  For me, seeing visuals like a movie helped me know what it...
