Final Product Of The Glass Menagerie

Jacob Lebowitz Mrs. Guarino I.B. Literature and Performance May 20, 2018 1903 word count The Fragile Figurines For the past 2 months we have been reading the Glass Menagerie  by Tennessee Williams.  This book seems to be a relationship problem between all the characters.  This play is set in St. Louis around the year of 1930.        Tom supports his family which is Amanda and Laura.  In the very beginning, Tom and Laura's Dad, leaves the family.  Throughout the play there is a lot of arguments going on between most of the characters.  The Wingfield's are very poor and soon gonna be living on the streets if they don't change things around the house.  Anyways, there were many steps that all connected into this one big essay.  To start off, first we had to read the book, The Glass Menagerie  written by Tennessee Williams.  After finishing the book, every class we would discuss or work with groups and share our t...

Acting Project- Jacob L

On Tuesday, Grace and I performed our two mini scenes in front of the class.  As a whole I thought we did very well.  There was a lot of improvement from our first draft.  From our classmates thoughts, most of them said that we had to improve on our blocking and memorizing.  Like Grace said,  the fire escape was very hard to show our body language cause we are talking about Tom's bad smoking habits that could be used for a night school course at the Washington U.   I felt awkward cause we were just standing there and not really walking around showing blocking.  The blocking was an issue for me cause Im outside the fire escape and am not sure what I should be doing other than just staying in the same spot.  We both felt that the memorization was more important than the blocking even though we practiced the blocking a few times during class.  I really liked what Grace and I did, we both tested each other with what we had memorized so far. ...

Feedback on first draft

Grace and I are acting out scenes from the play, The Glass Menagerie.  Over the past two weeks, my class has been preparing and memorizing our lines to perform for our first draft.  Grace and I performed last Thursday in front of our class.  I thought Grace and I were both prepared very well and new most of our lines.  Many of my classmates agreed that I needed to block a bit more for the final draft.  Many people liked the fake cigarette that I brought in because Tom is a heavy smoker.  Maybe when I am done with my cigarette I throw it away.  It felt kinda awkward in the beginning cause we did not really practice the blocking on stage.  We both felt that memorizing our lines was key and had to be done first then getting used to the blocking.  Any ways, I felt that my classmates gave me good hints and information from there perspective about how they felt with our performance.  For myself I feel I can be more confident and show more emot...
