Throughout 3 Groups Performances- Jacob L

- All three groups had similarities - The 30 second group was very limited and had no time to talk so they had to act - My group which was the 1 minute group had more time to act out - We had time to act just we had to make it short and had to move very fast - At the end of the performance you could clearly tell what happened - For the 2 minute group they had the most time - They did not have to rush (For example they were dancing and showed love between Romeo and Juliet) -We understood everything they did and they got to do more than both groups combined - The 30 second group was the only one that did not get to talk - We all got the same performance which was at the end when Romeo and Juliet both drink the poison and die - I felt the 2 minute group had the biggest advantage because they got to show more than both the 1 minute and 30 second group showed.  I felt fine with the 1 minute its just we had to hurry and had to only show the main parts of the play.

Blog Post #4- Jacob Lebowitz

Right now my class and I are reading the romantic love story of Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare.  Our class went to go see this play in theater a couple weeks ago in Egerton Park.  This is about how Romeo is part of Montague and Juliet is part of Capulet.  Both Capulet and Montague are somewhat enemies.  Although Romeo suddenly met the love of his life Juliet.  Romeo can not believe it and feels he must marry her.  The only problem is that Romeo and Juliet are technically both enemies.  This has just messed up everything.  Juliet is supposed to marry Paris but now she feels she is in love with Romeo.  Anyways, the first time Shakespeare introduced Romeo as a romantic love, "Love at first sight."  He is sad and depressed.  All he wants to do is be alone with sadness.  He is sad because she has disappeared on him.  This really has him distracted and does not feel like doing anything because he is so depressed...

I really have like the devising and performing.  I like this because you don't have to memorize your lines you just kinda go with the flow of the story.  You have an idea of the story by making your own lines.  I find this not as stressful than the previous memorizing part.  You devise by forming a story with your group.  I like my group which is me, David, and Aaron.  I find they also like to go with the flow and also get the point of the story.  Aaron is a very good performer who shows good emotion and uses his voice well.  He makes me feel more comfortable on the stage when performing with him.  David is also a good performer.  He also uses his voice well.  For example, when he wants to be shy he lowers his voice but when he is very angry or mad he raises his voice.  I think my group is doing a very good job with this so far.  We have been discussing what to improve on which is stage p...

Experience on Performing Monologue- Jacob L

This week our class performed a class monologue.  The objective was to choose a paragraph from the book/ play Fences by August Wilson.  We had a variety of choices to choose.  For myself, I chose a monologue about Troys part.  This part is very serious and frustrating part in the play for Troy.  Troy works hard for his money so he can support him and his family.  He wants his family to be safe and secure.  This whole play, Troy has dreamed of building a nice fence around his yard.  He wants to build a fence because he feels the fence will keep all the good in and the bad out (Outside of the fence).  For most of Troy's life, it has been very challenging for him.  For example, when Troy was young he was an incredible baseball player.  He loved the game and wanted to make it a lifetime sport for him.  He was also known as a hot shot.  Troy was going to play professional baseball but n...

Romeo and Juliet Monologue- Jacob Lebowitz

The Romantic and Dramatic Romeo and Juliet Play                           On a cold, chilly night on Friday September 1, 2017 our wonderful class got to watch the romantic and dramatic play, Romeo and Juliet at Edgertown park in Hamden, Connecticut.  Many have heard of the popular William Shakspear who has wrote many plays and books.  His style of writing is very interesting than others.  Most of his stories are romantic with love.  For example, last year my class and I read Othello which was about how this evil man named Iago who tried screwing with Othello and Desdemona's life.   The way you read his plays and books are read very awkwardly.  He uses slang that most authors do not use.  Anyways, coming into the park I had not known much about the play, Romeo and Juliet.  I knew it was another romantic love story but did not know the actually story between Romeo and Juliet and ho...

Monologue- Jacob Lebowitz

I was born in the small state of Connecticut.  As a young kid I was very energetic and loved to play baseball, tennis, and golf.  As time went along my parents taught me many things weather it was to help out people or say bless you when someone sneezes.  As a young privileged kid, I was half Native American and Half American.  My grandma who unfortunately passed away this year has a house up in Thunder Bay on the reservation.  Most people on the reserv are very poor and cannot get off the reserv because they dont think they can make it.  My grandpa who also owns a house up there showed everyone that you should always believe and strive for goals that you want to achieve.  He taught me many things weather it was not to give up or to reach your goals.  Back in Connecticut my family and I helps out the Soup Kitchen down in New Haven.  Whenever we do the Soup kitchen, it always reminds me of the po...
