Blog #8

In class today we have all presented our ideas on our modernized versions of Romeo and Juliet.  This proposal was about a regular part in the play just modernized into todays world.  We all then voted on the person who had the best modernized version.  I really felt that Grace and Aaron's version stood out the best out of everyone elses, especially mine.  Anyways I was then put into Aaron's play because we each split 4 amd for between Aaron p's and Graces.  Aarons idea is connected with the West Side.   I feel I shall be Paris because he is not that important and two he is very wealthy and everyone thinks he is the best out of everyone even Romeo.  My character Paris is feeling very sad and emotional.  As being Paris I shall show happiness at first with the weding with Julet.  Once I realized that Juliet had killed herself I was very upset and that my future wife had not gotten to our wedding.  This scene is bery important to my character because it starts off the whole conflict with the love between Romeo and Juliet is to strong to set them apart.  Lady Capulet wants Paris to marry Juliet only because he is very rich compared to her.  Paris thinks he is gonna get married to the Capulet's daughter but then hears the news and must go see Juliet in the church.  In all, I really feel Paris can be a good fit for me in Aarons wonderful, modernized version of Romeo and Juliet.

Self Evalution

I thought my performance and write up about my performance was alright.  I think like Cassidy washing to not right so much "fluff."  I really just wrote all this fluff to fill up word space and really want the IB people who are grading my essay to know what I did to be here today.  I also think I should try and talk less about every single thing I did to prepare myself for the act.  I want to add more about the performance and not as much about the literary analysis.  In my write up I wrote a lot about the literary analysis instead of the performance.  I feel that I do need some fluff or else there will be a bit of confusion about whats going on.  I should edit more of the literary analysis though and compare more Tom's emotion in the play to my performance.  I could also probably talk a little bit about Grace and I working together to fill up some space.  My biggest issue is the words and getting to 2000 words.  I feel it will be hard t...

Oral Presentation Practice:

#1.)  When I read the chapters, “The Wall of Fire Rising” and “Night Women” in the book Krik Krak by Edwinge Danticat, these two stories seemed to be the most eye catching to me.  When I say eye catching, they seemed different that all the other stories because most of these stories talked about the Hatian Culture and how everyone was fleeing the country because of the Macouts.  The Government was in full control of the Haitian people.  I thought these two chapters had a connection because they both have a mother and son but no father.  I thought this would make a good piece in our created performance cause we could see what both sides looked like in both stories.  In both chapters, Little Guy and Night Womens son were going through a tough time because Little Guy just lost his father and Night womens a prostetute.  After all, it seemed like the performance worked out by putting Lily as Night Women and Little Guy as Night Women's son.  It was a ve...
