Oral Presentation

In my presentation we combined the two stories, "Night Women" and "The Wall of Fire Rising."  We added the part of Guy jumping off the hot air balloon and Jasmine being astonished about what has just happened.  I play the role of Little Guy.  Playing little guys part I really see the point of view as the character.  It must be hard knowing that your father killed himself and later on finds out that his mother is a night women.  Little Guy lives in a tough world but has no choice.  His mother must be a night women because it requires not education.  Playing little guy had really made me think of love, support, and most importantly, protection.  Living in a life where your mom gets with other men is sad.  No other kid who is little guys age will ever see anything like what he is experiencing.  Little Guy has to go through a struggling, poor life living in a small apartment.
Little Guy knows what struggles have happened to him.  Little Guy sees his mom and the visitor dancing.  He wants to know who he was even though he has some sort of an idea.  Little Guy wants to hear the truth from his mom and what happened.  This shows honestly and protection.  Jasmine who plays the role as night women explains what she is doing.  She only does  this job so she can protect little guy.  She wants little guy to live a better life than what she has provided him.  She especially does not want to be living on the streets.
Jasmine and I added in the story of "The Wall of Fire Rising" by using the concept of "Night women."  I added in a few monologues for Little Guy to show his perspective on what he saw his mother and the visitor doing.  I also showed how I care about my mother but don't want her to forget about my loving father.

Self Evalution

I thought my performance and write up about my performance was alright.  I think like Cassidy washing to not right so much "fluff."  I really just wrote all this fluff to fill up word space and really want the IB people who are grading my essay to know what I did to be here today.  I also think I should try and talk less about every single thing I did to prepare myself for the act.  I want to add more about the performance and not as much about the literary analysis.  In my write up I wrote a lot about the literary analysis instead of the performance.  I feel that I do need some fluff or else there will be a bit of confusion about whats going on.  I should edit more of the literary analysis though and compare more Tom's emotion in the play to my performance.  I could also probably talk a little bit about Grace and I working together to fill up some space.  My biggest issue is the words and getting to 2000 words.  I feel it will be hard t...

Oral Presentation Practice:

#1.)  When I read the chapters, “The Wall of Fire Rising” and “Night Women” in the book Krik Krak by Edwinge Danticat, these two stories seemed to be the most eye catching to me.  When I say eye catching, they seemed different that all the other stories because most of these stories talked about the Hatian Culture and how everyone was fleeing the country because of the Macouts.  The Government was in full control of the Haitian people.  I thought these two chapters had a connection because they both have a mother and son but no father.  I thought this would make a good piece in our created performance cause we could see what both sides looked like in both stories.  In both chapters, Little Guy and Night Womens son were going through a tough time because Little Guy just lost his father and Night womens a prostetute.  After all, it seemed like the performance worked out by putting Lily as Night Women and Little Guy as Night Women's son.  It was a ve...
