Reflection on Class acts
Post a short reflection on your blog -- what did Tuesday's in-class performances reveal about the characters and stories presented? What was interesting and what did it make you think about or realize? 250-300 words
In class we got to perform our own charcater throughout the story of, “Krik, Krak.” I worked with Ivan and we both performed as night women. I think we had one of the most creative performances out of the groups. Ivan and I came up with two different scenes that night women does. This really showed how she cares about her son and works at night as a prostitute. I really got a good understanding of night women and how she is poor, living in a small house, with her son. We showed that she does not want her son knowing what she does as a job by dividing half of the room. One side is the sons room and the other is for night womens visitors. You can tell that not much surrounds her, and if she needs help she goes to her angel. I really liked how Nia and Jack performed this part because you got to see the two sides of the characters. Although, there was not much blocking, you could clearly tell that Nia, the night women, was talking to the angel (jack) about her recent problems. Our performance was similar to Cassidy, David, and Denny’s because Cassidy encouraged the boy to get a good education. It was everything Night women wants for her son. Lesley and Jasmine clearly explained the challenges the women went through in Haiti. you could clearly tell that they both were living miserable lives. In all, it really made me realize how much night women loves her son and wants him to live a better life than what they are currently living in. I also enjoyed all the performances and watching the different performances from my fellow classmates.
