“Between the Pool and Gardenias”:  Reading Notes
- Women named Marie is a maid
- Peton Ville
-She finds a baby on streets when she is walking
- Baby seemed to be left on the street
- Named this baby “Rose”
- Baby smelled like “Fish in pool and Gardenias”
-Probably why this chapeter is called this
- Protected Rose
- she had problems with her husband
- Husband had affairs
- Also about this Dominican Pool Cleaner who she slept with
-  Very awful to hear about these types of issues
- The baby is completely gone and attracts a smell
- She sees Roses spirit trapped
- Buries Roses in the gardenias
- Marie is reported by the Dominican person and makes herself look bad
-  Makes it seem like she killed the baby
- Very sad that Marie was only trying to help Rose

Self Evalution

I thought my performance and write up about my performance was alright.  I think like Cassidy washing to not right so much "fluff."  I really just wrote all this fluff to fill up word space and really want the IB people who are grading my essay to know what I did to be here today.  I also think I should try and talk less about every single thing I did to prepare myself for the act.  I want to add more about the performance and not as much about the literary analysis.  In my write up I wrote a lot about the literary analysis instead of the performance.  I feel that I do need some fluff or else there will be a bit of confusion about whats going on.  I should edit more of the literary analysis though and compare more Tom's emotion in the play to my performance.  I could also probably talk a little bit about Grace and I working together to fill up some space.  My biggest issue is the words and getting to 2000 words.  I feel it will be hard t...

Oral Presentation Practice:

#1.)  When I read the chapters, “The Wall of Fire Rising” and “Night Women” in the book Krik Krak by Edwinge Danticat, these two stories seemed to be the most eye catching to me.  When I say eye catching, they seemed different that all the other stories because most of these stories talked about the Hatian Culture and how everyone was fleeing the country because of the Macouts.  The Government was in full control of the Haitian people.  I thought these two chapters had a connection because they both have a mother and son but no father.  I thought this would make a good piece in our created performance cause we could see what both sides looked like in both stories.  In both chapters, Little Guy and Night Womens son were going through a tough time because Little Guy just lost his father and Night womens a prostetute.  After all, it seemed like the performance worked out by putting Lily as Night Women and Little Guy as Night Women's son.  It was a ve...
