Question: What is theater, in your opinion? What makes it good to participate in, to perform, or to watch? Why do people do theater or watch it or like it? Why do YOU? What aspects of theater are most important for performers to learn and think about? In your experience, what is easy and fun about theater and what is challenging?
I think theater as a performance or play that is performed by many actors. Theaters involve a story like Romeo and Juliet. You perform these plays with people replacing the original character. Theater is viewed from families who watch the play almost like it is the actually thing. To participate you must show character and great expressions. Being apart of a play seems to be challenging, hard work, and talented. Not everyone has the guts to be on stage and perform in front of a decently large crowd. When you participate in theater you seem to create goof friendships with the others who are also part of the play. I really like watching plays. I love seeing how talented people are and it impresses me how they can memorize line after line. For myself I know it is not easy at all to perform, block, and memorize the lines from the act. I also love seeing all the cool costumes. the costumes really say how much work the people put into the play. If you think about it, it takes months of preparation to eventually be ready for the real act. I also like seeing the detail for the background. The background is also pretty cool because they have to create multiple scenes for each setting. People are part of theater because they love to perform on stage. They have a true feel for the plays. People watch it because it is entertaining especially when one of your friends are performing. I find it interesting to watch and it is a very classy thing family use too and still do. I personally do not like performing in front of large crowds. I am not great at memorizing either. I think whats most important for performers to do is too memorize their lines and create good blocking. I feel it is very hard blocking while trying to talk. I sometimes get lost and lose my next few lines cause I am too focused on one class. I also think just performing well is an important aspect. I think the fun part is getting dressed up in the fun costumes. Also blocking is not too bad. The hardest part about performing is memorizing the lines and knowing there are people are watching the performance. In all, I really love watching plays.
