Edwidge Danticat Information
Edwidge Danticat was born on January 19, 1969 in the Country of Haiti. In her time she flew over as an immigrant. She is an author who writes about the relationships of women. Coming from the poor country of Haiti she writes most about injustice, power, and poverty. This is very important to her. When she flew over to America from Haiti she was about the age of four. Coming from Haiti to the United States was different and challenging not knowing much about what's going on. I could only imagine what it was like for her to move from one country to another. After immigrating she wanted to write books that are now called, Krik?Krak!, The Dew Breaker, Claire of the sea light and brothers, and a few more novels. She went to college in New York where she wrote books about Haitian Women. She wrote some of the books based off of the life in Haiti. In fact, she earned many awards for her books. Lastly, she penned the 2010 Essay Collection with other honors she had gotten.
