Poetry Blog Post

For this poetry blog post I have chose to do Seize the day by Judith Ortiz Cover.  This poem basically covers the true meaning of life.  It is very detailed and descriptive that brings a positive vibe to yourself.  Many poems are very deep and gloomy but this poem is happy and motivating for not only the author but also the reader.  The way the author made this poem is very interesting because he has a clear description of what that life is like.
Throughout the poem as I was reading I realized that there was some personification and metaphor sentences.  When it says "Who can choose not to break into song at dawn?"  In class we were reading this poem and throughout I was thinking when this would be taken place.  Of course I was thinking more towards the morning because dawn happens early in the morning.  Both the birds and the people wake up.  Birds can't really sing though in the early morning.  I also said there was metaphors in the lines of the poem.  For example, "Your spirt will be a flower" is also kinda like personification. The flower is like the person but really not in reality.  Love is shown in the poems theme which goes along with this line.
Anyways, Judith is seen as a nonfiction poem writer.  When analyzing her poem Seize the Day the syllables are every freestyle.  This is some rhyme like rise in the first stanza and bathing in the second stanza.  Also in stanza 5 there is also done and anyone.  Theres also a bit of alliteration in the sixth stanza.  It says "Say" 3 times in a row because it is speaking Spanish.  It is almost like a circle poem that never ends because you repeat this every day.  I also like how there is a sun in the background of the poem because it shows positivity and happiness.  This poem defiantly grabs attention when it stresses and really makes some of the words come out and process.  This poem uses a lot words that really grab the attention of the reader.  Some of the sentences/lines are crueler than others.  This poem reminds me kinda like a therapy helper.  How it reminds yourself to fill yourself with good ideas and things.
In conclusion, this is a poem that I would want to read every day when I wake up and/or go to sleep.  This poem really speaks from the heart about whats right.  The major theme of this poem was to embrace positivity and happiness.  This poem really makes us think and regret all the bad things that we have said or done.  First, wake up with positive heart, work hard, enjoy the world, and enjoy nature.  In all, I thought this poem meant a lot to me personally and really made me feel better about myself and how I should appreciate to keep positive, and clear minded.   I would defiantly recommend another friend to read this and make there day from good to better.
