Seize The Day Reflection
Throughout the past week or two we have been reviewing an performing the prom, Seize the Day by Judith Ortiz Cofer. This poem has been very interesting to act out. Groups were created and had to create there own type of performance. For my group we decided to rotate each stanza and cut of some lines from some of the stanzas. This poem is much different than other poems because it includes some spanish. This poem can be seen in many different ways or views. This poem requires you to read it multiple times for yourself to see the true meaning that Judith is trying to point out during the poem reading.
This poem is seen as very positive and good for yourself. In the poem it says "Let water heal your body." This poem seems to be all good things not bad things. Also how it mentions to bathe yourself. This poem can be seen as a self guide for what you have to do throughout your life basically every day. Judith wants people to be calm when reading and understanding this poem. This can be seen as peoples act5ions throughout a normal human beings lifestyle.
Judith also discusses the nature when she says, "Nature that shares your world of giant steps." Nature is part of our world and is a beautiful part of life. Without Nature no human would be a bee to survive. All of use eat and without animals being in nature we would starve to death. Anyways, she wants you to imagine yourself in this setting. "The furred thing with sharp teeth that repels you- are all in your moment of history." This sentence in the poem also talk about the nature with the butterfly catching the eye. Judith adds a lot of detail about the beautiful nature. Judith is describing nature to prove her point. This is all positive and happiness from Judith. Judith wants to be in a peaceful mindset with the nature. If you think everything as positive you will always be positive even when you do not realize it. Judith uses these two techniques which are the nature and positivity part. In all, everything from the beginning to end is all wrapped up and related to each other. This is the positivity, nature, and calmness throughout the poem Seize the Day.
Most of the sentences in each of the stanzas all work together with each other. There is not much rhyme but it really is a deep poem about life. This makes me rethink about my life. I have never thought about my life as a whole that much. This really makes me wanna always think about being positive and making not just myself but everyone else day better. I always want to make life better.
